Four women are among MCAs who yesterday won senior positions in the county assembly.

Forty-four MCAs elected Mathari Kiganjo Ward Representative Muthoni Kuruga as deputy majority leader after she garnered 16 votes against nominated MCA Julia Wanjiku, who got 15.

Mahiga Ward Rep James Kanyugo was elected majority leader.

Wamagana MCA Sebastian Mugo got the chief whip post while nominated MCA Lillian Wanjiku was picked to be his deputy. The two were elected unopposed.

Party of National Unity nominated MCA Pauline Wanjiru and Kamakwa MCA John Ndumia were selected to join the county assembly service board.

This is the first time four women have been elected to high-profile leadership positions in the county assembly.

The MCAs are expected to allocate members to various committees today
