A manipulated image in which the clouds appear to form a 'staircase to heaven' .

Members of Dr David Owuor’s Ministry of Repentance and Holiness church are claiming that ‘stairs’ to heaven were lowered during a recent crusade.

In a picture widely circulated on social media by the supporters of flamboyant preacher, the clouds appear to form a staircase during the three-day crusade in Nakuru which ended on January 1, 2019. They claimed that the stairs were the church’s entry to heaven through the hashtag #TheChurchEntryToHeaven which trended all through Wednesday morning.

“I remember too well that in Nakuru when the stairs were lowered, it was a shock to all of us. How about if it was the day of rupture? How many would have entered?” wrote one twitter user by the name Francis.

“We must be a privileged generation to even have Jehovah lower down the stairs that always lead to Heaven. We a need to walk these stairs,” said Nelson Amoi.

Photoshop?

However, concerns have been raised over the authenticity of the picture, with experts and netizens saying that the image had undergone manipulation.

“The edges of the said stairs are quite sharp. This is a clear sign that the images have been manipulated,” said Jared Too, a photoshop expert.

President Uhuru hiring chopper for Dr Owuor?

But this is not the first time, outrageous claims have been made by the self-proclaimed prophet and his ilk.

After the same Nakuru crusade, Dr Owuor told the crowd that President Uhuru had sent a chopper to pick him up.

“Let me go, the President of the Republic of Kenya has sent me a helicopter,” said the preacher, who holds a PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University of Haifa in Israel.

State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena however refuted the preacher’s claims.

“I am not aware of any such meeting (between President Kenyatta and Owuor). And none (chopper) was sent out,” she said in an interview with Citizen.

Captain Neepe, the proprietor of Pro Flight Limited which owns the chopper registration 5Y-HNB corroborated Dena’s statement, revealing that the mode of payment used when hiring the helicopter was unlike State House.

“I have done a lot of business with State House before. They always send us an LSO (Local Service Order) and they pay after a while… and you can actually see on the bank account that it is from State House. We have never dealt with them in cash,” he said.

The prophet is yet to defend his claim.

Fervent followers

Members of Dr Owuor’s church have in the past made headlines for their zeal whenever the preacher is holding a crusade.

On several occasions, hundreds of followers have been seen scrubbing tarmacked roads with soap and water where Dr Owuor’s presidential-like motorcade was expected to pass.

Dr Owuor’s son

During a past interview, the preacher revealed that he is not married due to the demanding nature of his job.

“In this calling one cannot be able to raise a family because you are always on the move from town to town, country to country,” he told The Nairobian.

However, the learned preacher with two degrees revealed that he had a son during his stay in Israel.

According to Dr Owuor, he almost married the mother but when he moved to the USA, the girl’s family refused to let her accompany him.

While in the US, he also cohabited with another woman who he left after allegedly seeing visions.
