It appears that the local music scene has come of age with a number of international artists opting to stage shows in Kenya.
Hardly a few days after Jamaica’s love doctor Romain Virgo staged an electric show at Nairobi’s KICC, legendary reggae group The Wailing Souls are set to perform at the same ground in November 5.
The event courtesy of Chini Ya Mti Promotions who earlier on hosted Chronixx will see the group churn popular songs including Shark Attack, Bongonyah among others.
Speaking to SDE the promoter said asked Kenyans to turn up in large numbers.
“Join us as we welcome to Nairobi, straight out of the Waterhouse section of Kingston, Jamaica.....three time grammy nominee The Wailing Souls who have promised to give their Kenyan fans a run for their money on that day.”
The group comprises Winston "Pipe" Matthews and Lloyd "Bread" McDonald and was formed in 1964 as The Renegades by Winston, Lloyd and George "Buddy" Haye.
They recorded as back up singers with Ernest Ranglin and released their own debut single Lost Love before becoming The Wailing Souls in 1968 the same year, Haye left.
So far they have released 18 studio albums, 10 compilation albums and one live album.
Charges for the show are Sh1,000 (regular) and Sh2,500 (VIP) in advance, Sh1,500 (regular) and Sh3,000 (VIP) at the gate.
