Three months is how long it has taken him to ensure love, books, sex and students find a way of coexisting in campus.

Call him faceless, shadowy or diminutive, but one thing is for sure, his website is fast gaining a following among students.

It is obvious what mwalii.co.ke has achieved in the hearts and minds of young scholars in just three months.

Little known Philip Etemesi, a fourth-year student at Kenyatta University, is the brains behind the new blog that incisively talks about love, relationships and sex in campus.

The 23-year-old economics and finance student has no apologies to make about what he loves doing - writing. He cherishes his skill and has written for various magazines and leading bogs in the country.

With over 197,800 likes in less than three months, there is no doubt that his writing seems to provide some kind of solace to students who would otherwise drop out of campus because of frustration and emptiness that comes with studying your ‘dad’s course.’

He says that he writes on sex, relationships and love because “people love topics about sex and relationships. That is why the site has grown so fast since it has catchy and informative content.”

Philip says he finds more peace in writing than reading. He admits that his academic performance has suffered a bit because it’s costly to pursue two masters at a go.

“I have never been a fan of the library because I prefer writing to reading. You’ll rarely find me with a book. My academic performance has paid some price because of this, since I concentrate a lot on writing. I have unfulfilled units, I cannot deny that. But I don’t regret doing what I love most,” he adds.

To ensure there is always fresh content on the site, Philip writes a lot by observing what goes around him. He knows that a simple incident, for instance a brawl at Nyayo Zone, could turn into a big story that could receive thousands of hits in a matter of days.

He told Campus Vibe that female students offer the best company. “I enjoy interacting with ladies and observing their behavioural trends,” said Philip.

While his has become a household name on campus, very few students know him in person. On many occasions, he has bumped into students who have no idea who he is, while discussing stories on his blog.

Philip feels sorry for students who lazy around campus as if they are in some academic fattening camp. Says Philip: “I find it odd that some students do nothing besides reading and eating. They need to chill out.”

He hates boozing and despises women who lighten their skin. “I get pissed off by guys who never sober up and young women who paint their faces with excessive makeup. We are not in some beauty competition here,” he says.

On sex, he notes that, “You can get laid a lot in campus if you are good at your game. But some people endure miserable dry spells. Nonetheless, there are hardly any virgins in campus. You’ll be surprised at who the most decent-looking girl in campus could be sleeping with.”

Philip says he is not badly off financially and advises other students to exploit their talents instead of nagging the government about Helb money.
