Rod Stewart has hit out at Sir Elton John for ignoring efforts to bury their rift and end the years-long feud. The 75-year-old singer said that his fellow singing legend has deliberately spurned opportunities to make up after the pair had a 'big fall out'.
Sir Rod said that he offered an olive branch to Elton and that it was a shame that he continues to blank any advances to bury the hatchet. Speaking to Virgin Radio breakfast host Chris Evans, on his How to Wow podcast, Rod said that he hoped that their shared love of football could be a base to work on.
He told the motormouth DJ: "We don’t talk to each other anymore. Big falling out." Sir Rod said that the Rocketman singer was still getting upset over things he was saying and that he "had the hump" last year when he suggested that Sir Elton's retirement tour was "not rock ‘n’ roll".

The Maggie May singer said that he had invited Sir Elton and his family to his home in Essex, where he has a football pitch in his grounds. Sir Rod hoped that some time on the pitch together could be the ideal ice breaker.

He said: "Last time I emailed him I said, ‘I’ve got this football pitch, would you like the boys to come up? You know, cos they both love football.” Unfortunately, Sir Rod said that this offer was also ignored by Sir Elton and he reflected on their relationship and said that it was a shame because before their fall out, they have been "real close".
It has been reported that Sir Elton may have also been hurt by his biopic Rocketman being compared to Abba musical Mamma Mia in a cheeky comment by Sir Rod.
