Two months after a 45-year-old man completed building a two kilometre road in Hugo village in Murang'a, Kenyans are still appreciating his kind gesture.
Yesterday, ABC Bank acknowledged Nicholas Muchami efforts saying his deeds as an individual had positively transformed his village, through opening of a road for the community.
The bank officials led by their Managing Director Phillip Wambua honoured him with a high breed heifer, with a six-month supply of feeds.
Wambua said there was needed to appreciate those who have devoted themselves for the sake of the community.

“There is need to acknowledge the champions at all levels, to enable our youth learn to be supportive towards transformation of their areas,” said Wambua.
In the past one month, Muchami has received well-wishers who have appreciated his efforts, with a social media group members delivered a cow to empower him.
Muchami made the road for the community after path to Kaganda primary school and local ACK church that the villagers were using for 15 years was fenced by land owner thus blocking Gakanda area from other parts of Murarandia location.
A village elder Ng’anga Muchina said action by the 45-year-old amused many as he was the first to consider undertaking the project, as other waited for the county government.
He said his action helped put their Kaganda in the global map where several people led to mobilisation of funds from individuals and assisted improve his living standards.
“What he did for the community is remarkable, and the youth should be encouraged to emulate him, for a better future,” said Muchina.
He added that the county government was expected to improve the section, which remains slippery when it rains.
“Improvement of feeder roads is a responsibility of the county government and we hope the section will be improved, “said Muchina.
