Security agencies are getting better and wiser, Raila says on Dusit terror raid

NASA leader Raila Odinga has condemned the Dusit Hotel terror attack, calling it an act of cowardice.

Speaking at Capitol Hill, he commended efforts by the response teams which he said played a big role in evacuating the more than 700 people at the complex.

In his statement, the AU Infrastructure envoy praised citizens for responding to appeals of blood donation.

He also thanked the international community for standing with Kenya.

“We assure the international community that Kenya is part of the global campaign against terrorism,” Raila added.

Flanked by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu, the ODM leader noted that despite persisting challenges in securing our homeland, security officers are getting better and wiser.

“We will keep these forces out of our borders.”

He called on leaders and officials to reject divisions on religious and political lines, which he said fuels terrorism.

“Such divisions are what terrorists thrive on. They only want to plant fear and suspicion.”

Raila said terrorists do not seek to know their victims’ tribe, party, religion or region.

“Their mission is to cause fear and pain.”

He said Kenyans’ survival depends on standing against the agents of doom, adding that the fallen victims are heroes against terrorism.

Meanwhile, Kalonzo condoled with Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, whom he said lost his first cousin in the attack and will be buried today.

Ngilu sent sympathy messages to the victims and condemned the terrorists, saying Kenyans will not be intimidated.
