Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results have just been released and according to Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed, this years score was much better off than the previous years.
Few cases of cheating reported and exams conducted in a peaceful manner. Most schools recording an improvement and the CS together with his team sending congratulatory messages to the candidates that sat for the exam and assured them of places as they proceed to the next level of their education.
Meanwhile in Bungoma County a parent has thoroughly beaten her daughter due to poor performance. The candidate by the name Abigael was severely punished by her parents for scoring 277 marks which was low than what her parents expected.
This forced the girl to run out of their home and seek for safety. Its really saddening as parents expect more from their children instead of appreciating and motivating them to continue working hard.
It is my hope that apart from celebrating the students that scored higher marks, it is also good to appreciate the average ones and urge them to continue working hard to reach their destiny.
