The Luhyia community is the second most populous tribe in Kenya. Unfortunately, the numbers don't add up as far as political influence is concerned given the fragmented nature of the community.

Since politics is about numbers, a united Luhyia community would be the envy of every politician. Serious political contenders will either strive to get the entire vote or divide it. Dividing the Mulembe vote has been top on the agenda of outsiders keen to reduce the impact of community leaders.

Selfish greed and infighting among Luhyia leading lights has reduced them to running mates rather than the presidential candidates. Will the unity demonstrated by leaders during Juma's funeral result into unity of purpose in the next polls?

As a matter of fact, having the Luhyia vote in one basket will automatically be a game-changer. Any leader who is capable of rallying the community to support him will definitely pose a serious threat to the establishment with high chances of winning.

I hope the leaders will make the dream of Luhyia unity a reality and use it to bring positive change to Kenya. If others have done it, why not the people of Mulembe. History is beckoning at the community leaders to unite the people.
