Homabay,Kenya: Governor Cyprian Awiti has differed with the area Senator Moses Kajwang’ over the fight against corruption in the county.
Speaking during an inter-denominational prayer function at Homa Bay County stadium, Kajwang’ challenged Mr Awiti to fire officers in his government accused of involvement in corruption.
“There is no reason for officers adversely mentioned in a county committee report to continue serving in their positions before investigations are conducted,” said Kajwang’.
But Awiti told off the senator, arguing that he was still new in the system hence he should be careful when criticising issues, or people.
“You were elected just recently and have done nothing for this county. I cannot just wake up and take punitive action against my officers based on rumours,” Awiti said.
