Embu: A man died after he was knocked down by a vehicle belonging to Manyatta MP John Muchiri at Kirigi centre along the Mutunduri-Manyatta road on Sunday night.
The man, identified as Nelson Muriuki, died on the spot.
Embu North OCPD Kasimba Kadzomba said the driver was alone in the vehicle after he dropped the MP at his home.
The legislator later drove himself to Manyatta Police Station where the vehicle was impounded to assist in investigations.
"Our investigations show the man was crossing the road when the accident happened. It was also raining heavily," said the OCPD.

He said the body was moved to Embu Level Five Hospital mortuary.
The police boss cautioned residents to be careful when crossing the road, especially during the rainy season as the roads are slippery.
