MACHAKOS, KENYA: The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) officials have questioned Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua over alleged corruption in his County.
The Governor appeared before the commission on Thursday and spent hours explaining the allegations out of procurement regulations in his county.
“The allegations are out of procurement of cars and other items. This follows an agreement reached in court last week,” EACC official told Standard.
The official said the investigation is ongoing and they may summon the Governor again.
Recently, the Governor moved to the High Court to restrain the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) from arresting him over corruption allegations.

Dr Mutua instructed his lawyer Wilfred Nyamu to sue the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General as the first, second and third respondents.
Mr Nyamu has asked the court to stop EACC from compelling Mutua and his deputy governor to appear for interview and statement recording in respect of the purchase of motor vehicles subject of Inquiry No. EACC/FI/INQ/51/2014, pending the hearing and determination of this application.
EACC also on Thursday questioned former anti-corruption czar John Githongo over the Anglo Leasing scandal.
Officials at the EACC headquarters said Githongo was summoned to record a statement on what he knows about the mega scandal because he was the whistle blower.
They said they felt the initial statement he recorded in London previously was not sufficient and wanted him to clarify several issues.
Githong'o fell out with the Mwai Kibaki government soon after recording various top government officials who were behind the scandal before he blew the whistle on the mega scam. Weka background.
