In February 2018, some Jubilee MPs were opposed to the inclusion of Echesa as a nominee for the Sports and Culture docket.
The move came after questions were raised about his academic qualifications.
During the vetting, Echesa presented sketchy education qualifications.
When he appeared before the panel chaired by Speaker Justin Muturi, some questions were framed in Kiswahili while other CS nominees were interviewed in English.
The fired CS is a former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) youth leader in Kakamega.
