Jose Mourinho is back in management after succeeding Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham.

The Argentine was axed with the north Londoners in the bottom half of the Premier League which has seen the Special One return after 11 months away.

Tottenham chief Daniel Levy has already spoken highly of the appointment citing Mourinho as one of the game's most successful coaches.

But the two-time Champions League winner is a complete contrast to Pochettino and will undoubtedly have wanted assurances over the club's willingness to spend in the market.

Pochettino did an excellent job in harnessing young talent, but Mourinho is more likely to dip into the market come January - so who could he look to sign?

Nemanja Matic

Not exactly a name Tottenham fans want to hear but Mourinho loves his tried and tested.

The Serbian was with the Portuguese manager at Chelsea and Manchester United and helped him win the Premier League title in 2015.

He is not the player who dominated midfields three or four years ago, but his grunt in midfield as well as his experience may be seen as a quick fix for Mourinho.

Matic doesn't appear to be in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans at Old Trafford meaning he would be readily available.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The Swede recently left LA Galaxy following spells with a host of Europe's biggest clubs over the last decade.

Ibrahimovic is nearing 40, but his efforts in England with the Red Devils didn't show a player whose powers were waining.

He is known to have huge affection for Mourinho and, again, could be seen as a short-term solution to help lift Tottenham until the end of the season.

A lack of cover for Harry Kane was a regular criticism of Tottenham under Pochettino and Ibrahimovic's arrival could fill the hole.

Paulo Dybala

Tottenham pushed for the Argentine's signature in the summer before issues over money curtailed the deal.

Dybala is by no means assured of a place in Italy despite scoring some big goals for Maurizio Sarri this term.

His creative influence on games could certainly be a plus for Tottenham with both Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen struggling for form.

Dybala can also be a solid supply of goals to provide some much needed support for Kane in attack.

Bruno Fernandes

The Sporting Lisbon star was linked with a move away from Portugal in the summer but eventually stayed put.

Fernandes is valued at around £65m, but Sporting are in financial difficulty and need require funds which could force their hand.

The goal-scoring midfielder was understood to prefer a move to Tottenham over United and having his compatriot now in charge may increase their chances of a deal being struck.

Mourinho's hallmark throughout his career has been a solid defence and Tottenham have plenty of question marks in that area.

Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are both out of contract in the summer leaving a huge hole in the centre of defence.

A central defender is always high on Mourinho's wish list and Ake could be seen as an investment by Tottenham.

The 24-year-old would command a hefty fee, but failing to sign a defender at Old Trafford was a major reason behind his frustration and Levy will be keen to get Mourinho on side early on.
