Manchester United fans worldwide were left in a state of disillusionment following the team’s embarrassing 3-2 defeat at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion last week.

You might think Man United faithful are a bit too harsh on Jose Mourinho considering the scoreline, but it’s the style of football the Portuguese has embedded in the team for the last two seasons that has the entire fanbase worried.

It’s hard to argue with the fact that Mourinho is one of the greatest football managers of all time. But it seems his dominance is slowly diminishing.

Even though the Red Devils had the largest chunk of possession at the Amex Stadium last week, their attackers were literally shadowboxing in the final third.

Case example, Paul Pogba. For a man who was fresh off winning football’s most coveted trophy, the Frenchman just wasn’t himself against Brighton. He was the captain but lost most balls and committed the highest number of fouls.

He did score a penalty in the dying stages of the game, but it wasn’t enough to salvage anything meaningful for Mourinho’s men.

Speaking to journalists immediately after the game, Pogba confessed not having the ‘right attitude’, a comment that saw him receive criticism from Man United legend Paul Scholes.

“I put myself first, my attitude wasn't right enough, we keep trying and pushing, and it is going to be a big lesson for us,” said Pogba.

Scholes smoothly shot down Pogba’s comments saying he had no defence following another poor performance.

“I hope that is lost in translation. There is no defence for that comment, there is no defence for it. You say it to yourself, don’t you? You’re constantly saying to yourself. ‘Attitude right, make sure it’s right’. You don’t need other people to tell you. You don’t need a manager to tell you that or your team-mates,” said the Man United great.

Scholes’ comments seemed to have infuriated Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola, who came out guns blazing on Twitter belittling the former Man United midfielder.

“Some people need to talk for fear of being forgotten. Paul Scholes wouldn’t recognize a leader if he was in front of Sir Winston Churchill,” posted Raiola.

The agent then sarcastically threatened to find Pogba a new club.

“Paul Scholes should become sports director and advise Woodward to sell Pogba. Would be sleepless nights to find Pogba a new club,” he added.

Raiola’s attack on Scholes prompted man United fans on social media to demand an explanation from Pogba, who responded on Twitter… but not quite how people expected.

The World Cup winner posted a picture of himself with his hand over his mouth signalling ‘Shut Up’ – and even though it appeared to be his individual promotional material, fans did not take it for granted.

Cannot believe the arrogance of Pogba tweeting out shush again! He really is so far removed from reality that he thinks fans will just swallow that. Where's the demand that your agent retracts his disgusting tweets. Where's the statement you want to stay at the club? — Mark Goldbridge (@markgoldbridge) August 23, 2018

I'm still 50/50 on Jose or Pogba but at the end of the day Pogba has been playing like dogshit. Pen in the World Cup finally doesn't count for shit. Don't care about France, only care about Man United. Simple as that. He needs to step up to the plate with Jose at this club or not — James Stretford (@Jamesstretford) August 23, 2018

If Paul Pogba thinks he can play with utd fans. By his finger to his lips tweet.
Then he's taking on the wrong fans.
The lad wouldn't make the top fifty of utd's greatest player's.
And the club would probably be better off without the circus surrounding him — david walsh (@davidwalsh1956) August 24, 2018
