East African Legislative Assembly MP Oburu Oginga (pictured) says Orange Democratic Movement party will field a presidential candidate in 2022.
Reacting to sentiments by deputy president William Ruto that there are efforts to scuttle his presidential bid, Oburu challenged to DP to resign if the so-called "system" does not favour him.
“We’ve always been with God and the people of Kenya. Ruto and his team should not make noise because we cannot take away his position when he’s still the second in command,” said Oburu.
Oburu, who is the eldest brother of ODM leader Raila Odinga, made the remarks during a morning show in a local vernacular radio station.

At the same time, the lawmaker, downplayed claims there was a secret agenda in the handshake between President Kenyatta and Raila, saying all details of the deal were made public.
“There’s no secret in the handshake. All we want as ODM party is to have a free and fair elections,” said Oburu.
Further, the legislator said that this is the right time to make constitutional reforms.
