Migori County Assembly Speaker Boaz Okoth was this morning arrested on suspicion of breaking into the assembly’s finance office.
County Police Commander Mark Wanjala said the speaker went to the county assembly offices at night accompanied by some people.
The Speaker is said to have broken the door to the office at midnight and collected some files.
After his arrest, the Speaker recorded a statement at the Migori police station DCI office.
Wanjala said the Speaker will be arraigned in court and be charged with office breaking offence.

Earlier, the Speaker had locked himself at the assembly premises for fear of arrest.
He was arrested alongside three other suspects.
Some files and computers were loaded into a police vehicle and taken to Migori police station as evidence.
