Siaya: Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi has defended the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) saying it should be maintained as a national fund to complement development in counties.
Mr Wandayi said the court ruling which declared CDF unconstitutional should not worry Kenyans as Parliament has taken a position and the fund will be entrenched in the Constitution.
"This is a national government fund and its work is supposed to be connected to national government functions. We insist that more funds should be devolved and CDF be left alone," said Wandayi.
The legislator argued that after devolution, a lot of money has been used on salary payments while development projects have been given a raw deal.
