The Government appreciates the selflessness and dedication policemen show as the endeavour to keep Kenyans safe, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has said.
Dr Matiang’i spoke yesterday when he and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet visited the Critical Infrastructure and Security of Government Buildings unit in Nairobi.
“You can see we are here with you even if its the first day of the New Year. We appreciate your work,” he told the officers.
The unit is now the single biggest under the AP in the new arrangements. It is supposed to protect all critical installations in the country.
The new police structure will see 24,572 APs join Kenya Police to form a General Duty Police under the command of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police to form a 65,000 strong team.
