A head teacher has been charged with defiling a mentally-challenged pupil.
The Kitui School for the Mentally Handicapped head teacher, Boniface Muendo Makewa, yesterday appeared before Principal Magistrate Esther Boke facing two counts of defilement and indecent assault on the 12-year-old girl.
Makewa, who was represented by Francis Mulu, denied the charges and was granted a Sh150,000 bond with a similar surety or a Sh40,000 cash bail.
However, Ms Boke warned the accused against interfering with witnesses or engaging in attempts to defeat justice.
The head teacher was accused of unlawfully and intentionally defiling and touching the girl’s private parts at the school on unknown dates last year.
