The United Nations has recognised Technical University of Mombasa as a centre of excellence in offering Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) recognised the university after a thorough assessment of its curriculum, facilities and teaching personnel and declaring it the newest member of the International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (UNEVOC).
News of the global achievement was contained in a letter to the acting Vice Chancellor Laila Abubakar dated December 12.
The recognition means the university can now coordinate, participate and establish linkages in UNESCO-related activities including organising and hosting global TVET meetings and symposiums.
