| Comedian Churchill had to pay off the waiter |
During a recent tour of Eldoret, it is rumoured that comedy pioneer and mentor Churchill may have been involved in an altercation with a waiter. Sources narrated to the Pulse desk how a sloshed Churchill disagreed with and slapped a waiter at the Club 411 in Eldoret, before quietly doing some ‘damage-control’ by paying the waiter Sh10, 000.
When sought for comment, the Churchill Show host could not be reached immediately as he was in a meeting but his fellow director who was present on that day, Ken Waudo, dismissed the allegations. According to Ken, the waiter in question had become a bit overbearing and was taking advantage of Churchill’s laid-back nature to pass off false bills as well as to try a prise a tip out of him, much as he was not the one attending to them.
After an initial misunderstanding about a bill with the waiter inside the club, where Churchill and his crew had been reserved for an upstairs space, the comedian left after paying a disputed Sh6, 000. However the waiter followed him outside. Here, a verbal exchange ensued with a now-exasperated Churchill.
“If Churchill slapped anyone, it was only with words,” Waudo explained away the 3am incident.
