Moi University has reduced the number of departments from 80 to 50 in a move aimed at reducing the cost of operations.
As per a directive issued by the office of the vice chancellor, the institution has merged some departments and reorganised others to conform to the required quality in the higher education sector.
Among the departments merged are the Communications Department and Publishing and Media Studies. The literature department has also been merged with Linguistics Department.
According to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Isaack Kosgey, the changes, that include reshuffling of lecturers, will ensure efficiency in service delivery.
