Police in Migori have detained a secondary school principal after he clobbered his 17-year-old daughter to death.
Rades Apida, then, together with his family, tried to cover up the crime by planning the girl's unlicensed burial.
The teenager's alleged mistake was to be found with her boyfriend next to their home in Uriri, Migori County.
Apida is believed to have attacked his daughter and her boyfriend with a blunt object.
On Saturday, Uriri sub-County Police Commander Peter Njoroge confirmed that the girl succumbed to head injuries.

“We established that the suspect flogged his daughter who was in Form Four at Ogari Secondary School after he found her with her boyfriend, 19,” said Njoroge.
According to Njoroge, the suspect used a cooking stick to attack his daughter during the Friday evening incident.
Moments after the incident, the family made a futile attempt to save her life by rushing her to Migori Referral Hospital, where she succumbed while undergoing treatment.
And after medics declared the girl dead, the family reportedly made plans to ferry the body to their home in Bondo for burial before police intervened and arrested the father.
"The accused will be arraigned on Monday. We will seek some time to complete investigations and take him through psychiatric check before he is charged," said Njoroge.
