National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has warned against hate speech and incitement during the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) rallies.
The commission warned that it would take stern action against those who take advantage of the meetings to be held in different parts of the country.
“We will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute the offenders of the law in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies without fear or favour,” the commission said in a statement yesterday. It asked Kenyans to respect the integrity of BBI by denouncing any attempts by politicians to lure them into violent activities.
NCIC chairperson Samuel Kobia said it is supports the initiative because the core challenges identified by the report fell squarely within its mandate.
“Specifically, ethos, responsibilities and rights of citizens, ethnic antagonisms, competition and inclusivity,” said Rev Dr Kobia.

Kobia asked politicians to desist from misleading their followers for their selfish ambitions and instead safeguard peace across the country.
BBI supporters are in Mombasa for a rally at Mama Ngina grounds.
