A sixteen-year-old student shocked residents of Kapkiamo in Baringo North Sub County after she strangled her four-month-old baby before killing herself.
Lucy Chelimo, the deceased was a Form Three student at Kapkimo Secondary school.
Chelimo allegedly committed the crime after her parents failed to take care of the baby to allow her continue with her education.
She hung herself on a tree outside their home after she allegedly buried the body of her child in a shallow grave a few metres away from their home.

Confirming the incident, Baringo Police Commander Robinson Ndiwa said investigations are underway.
“DCIO has picked up the matter, though it is suspected to have been a case of harassment from the family,” Ndiwa said.
Charles Chelimo, father to the deceased said he is still in shock and wonders why his child had committed suicide yet he had paid all her fees.
Villagers who jammed the home to condole with the family were also shocked.
