Relegation bound Thika united fc head coach Nicholas Muyoti has clearly stated that his side’s main aim is to stay afloat of this season’s Kenya Premier League (KPL) and avoid relegation.
Speaking at Camp Toyoyo stadium on Tuesday morning during a friendly match against Eastlanders fc, the former Kenya international was optimistic that Thika united will play in the KPL next season.
“It’s obviously a tough league, but my boys are trying their best to keep our hopes alive for next season football. We would have avoided all this, but I can’t undo what has already been done. What we can do now is to correct those mistakes and surge forward collecting maximum points,” Muyoti said adding that Thika United fc needs great focus.
Thika United fc kept their hopes alive after beating Kariobangi Sharks fc by a solitary goal, on 1st October at home.
“I am not worried about our physical fitness. We are in great shape physically, but my worry is that we are not scoring enough. We create a lot, but we just don’t finish and kill the game beyond reach. The game against Kariobangi Sharks fc would have ended 3-0 in our favor if we had capitalized on all our chances, but we wasted two clear ones and only scored one,” added Muyoti who also praised his management team for supporting his side and making sure that his players never lack.

With six games to go, the former Harambee stars, Thika United and Afc leopards’ skipper will travel with his surges to Kisumu to play against Western Stima on Sunday October 15th.
Thika United fc are currently placed 16th on the log of 18 teams after the high court ordered Zoo Kericho fc and Nakumatt fc back to complete their fixtures. It is a tough week for relegation bound sides after both Muhoroni fc won 4-3 against Nakumatt fc and Western Stima fc beat Bandari fc on the same day 7th October.
Muyoti now needs all 18 points or at least 14 from his next six games to kiss the relegation zone good bye and earn his boys a ticket for next season KPL football. His next fixtures are not only tough, but also tricky.
For the most part of his career he has been a leader both at club level and also at international level. Muyoti now will need lady luck to smile upon his coaching career and the unfair gods of football to show him favor.
