National Super Alliance flag bearer Raila Odinga has stated that he is ready to hold talks with the ruling party.

However, he will only allow the talks to commence after Jubilee Party drops ideas of changing election laws.

The ODM leader has been against the repeat election being conducted with Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba still in office, saying that all IEBC officials involved in election malpractices should not be allowed to take part in the repeat election slated for October 26th.

Raila has argued that the proposed changes favour Jubilee more and that NASA will not be willing to participate in any election if these changes are implemented.

According to Daily Nation, Raila accused Jubilee of acting in ‘bad faith’, changing the rules of the game.

Jubilee’s proposed changes will see the powers of the IEBC chairman limited and cement manual transmission of results. The Commission’s Vice Chairman will now be able to act as Chair if the chairman is absent. Members of the commission would also elect one member to act as chairman if both the Chairman and Vice Chairman are missing.

In a meeting organised by Anglican Church of Kenya, Raila said, “There is no need to change the goal post when the Supreme Court has already implicated the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission. What is being brought back is manual system of voting of the pre-1997 era.”

Meanwhile, NASA supporters in the United States plan to hold massive demonstrations at the United Nation’s headquarters in New York.
