Kenya needs a dictator, says senior Jubilee politician

Jubilee Party Vice- Chairman David Murathe has said that to move forward as country, Kenya needs a president who will be a benevolent dictator.

Speaking during an interview on KTN News, Murathe gave case examples of Rwandan President Paul Kagame and his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni.

“What this country needs now is a benevolent dictator. People have been too soft so that things have gone rogue”. He stated.

However, Norman Magaya who was also part of the interview slammed Mr. Murathe and reiterated that there shall be no elections if the status quo remains at IEBC.

“We will defeat you David, we will not allow you to introduce dictatorship in this country. You will not intimidate us, we will have an election that conforms to the Constitution”, the Head of NASA Secretariat retaliated.

This comes on the background of the Jubilee Party’s planned amendments to the Election Act, which opposition MPs have strongly opposed.

Part of the amendments seek to reduce powers of the IEBC Chairman in the case of his absence, commissioners can choose a temporary chair.
