Homa Bay County Governor Cyprian Awiti's right-hand man, Julius Gaya, was involved in a near fatal accident yesterday along Kisumu - Homa Bay road near Kendu Bay town.
Gaya and his official driver survived the horrific tragedy by a whisker and were initially whisked to Homa Bay County Hospital. They were later transferred to a Kisumu hospital, according to County Police reports.
Gaya who was elected for a second term in office as a Member of County Assembly for Central in Karachuonyo Constituency is a former Personal Assistant to Governor Awiti and one of his chief political advisers.
The white RAV 4 (pictured) was written off after the horrific tragedy.
At the time of going to press, the Governor's office has not issued a statement to ascertain Gaya's current condition.
