Uhuru speaking on Friday during the burial ceremony of the late Laikipia senator GG Kariuki said Kenyans need to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner during the election period.
Uhuru said the country cannot afford to go through another cycle of violence as witnessed after the bungled 2007-2008 general election.
He said his government will firmly deal with violence perpetrators irrespective of their status in society.
“We want peace, and I want to assure you we will have peace,” he said.
“It’s true we have problems. But we can’t solve these problems by fighting, we can dialogue", he added.
