Government should work together with industry to eradicate illegal gaming machines

PRESS STATEMENT

NAIROBI April 12, 2017…………We fully support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s concerns expressed today over the rising problem of underage gambling associated with illegal gambling machines. As an industry, we have previously raised the same concerns with the regulator and county governments, constantly requesting them to curb this menace which has tarnished the industry’s image and stands to ruin the lives of our children.

We share the President’s vision to support social causes that benefit young people who are the future leaders of Kenya. SportPesa will continue to invest heavily in youth development projects as well as the sports industry. 

We are happy that the President has expressed the Government’s willingness to engage the industry. As SportPesa, we strongly feel that this is the only way to find a lasting solution through balanced regulation.
