Kenyan Premier League (KPL) leaders Tusker dropped two points after being held to a 1-1 draw by Ushuru at the Nyayo National Stadium yesterday.

Ebrima Sanneh opened the scoring for the Taxmen in the 10th minute slotting home a penalty awarded after Lloyd Wahome was adjudged to have brought down the Gambian international.

Tusker equalised in the 37th minute when Allan Wanga headed past Shaban Odonji.

The brewers remain at the top of the log on 45 points. This is five more than second placed Gor Mahia.

In Nakuru, Ulinzi got back to winning ways as they beat Sofapaka 3-1 in a match played at Afraha Stadium.
Sofapaka took an early lead through Charles Melubo before Ulinzi hit back with goals from Samuel Onyango, John Kago and Brian Birgen.

The soldiers could even afford the luxury of missing a penalty with top marksman John Makwatta shooting wide.

In Awendo, hosts Sony Sugar edged out visiting Mathare United 2-1 ending a good run of results by the slum boys.

Masoud Juma and Amos Asembeka scored a goal each for the sugar millers while Whyvonne Isuza replied for Mathare United.

Earlier at Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi City Star’s woes continued after going down 1-0 to Western Stima.

The loss has compounded City Star’s relegation worries with less than ten matches to go before the season ends.

Stima will have Wesley Kemboi to thank for the goal after he notched home in the 20th minute of the match.

Stima have had an impressive season this year and were always favourites in yesterday’s match which they dominated in the early exchanges.

City Stars knew they were fighting for their life in the match and Jimmy Bagaye and Joseph Sakwa were always threatening the Stima backine.

Gabriel Andika was a busy man in the Stima goal.

He did well to deal with Arthur Museve’s 52nd minute header.

Sony were quick to show their intentions to pick all three points by taking the game to their opponents. Robinson Kamura in the United backline was under pressure and was forced to concede the match’s first corner when Boniface Muchiri picked out Masoud Juma whose attempt to score was thwarted by Kamura.

From then on United were always under pressure for a better part of the match and Sony deserve all three points at home.

In another match, Posta Rangers collected all three points at the expense of Thika United after winning 1-0. Rangers have not been impressive in the second leg of the league and have won just once so far.

Duncan Otieno, Calvin Odongo and Timothy Otieno were very dangerous in front of Thika’s goal, forcing Hamza Muwonge to make a number of saves.

Muwonge, however, could not stop Timothy Otieno from scoring in the 43rd minute after he sent home Calvin Odongo’s well-taken pass.

Thika, who were playing without two of their key men Eugene Mukangula and team captain Dennis Odhiambo, failed to make a come-back and will be worrying about relegation.
