American Vice President Joe Biden nearly had to sell his house during his son's ,Beau Biden illness. Let's put this into perspective. Joe Biden is no ordinary American, he was Delaware Senator from 1973 to 2009 when he became US Vice President. That's a whooping 36 years.

Prior to that, he had been an attorney and had served in the New Castle County Council. His son Beau, now deceased was also not just any other American. He was elected Delaware Attorney General in 2006.He did not defend his seat in 2014 as he was considering running for the position of Delaware Governor this year.Besides all this, he also had a successful stint in the military.

My point;Despite being arguably the second most powerful man on earth and his son having an illustrious career, the Bidens still had a challenge raising medical funds. In Africa and in other failed systems,a leader who has served all those years would be a dollar billionaire, with offshore accounts and lots of assets.

In a system where values matter, money is not the major driving force. Public service and politics does not serve selfish accumulation interests. Individuals of high integrity are elected to offer service. Kenyans need to learn a thing from such political systems if Kenya is to achieve its visions.
