Malindi by-election is an apt moment to show the nation that the era of party dominance is gone. The last general election was characterised by voting in the name of party without considering the personality of the candidate
Residents should understand that voting for a particular party doesn't guarantee progress, just the disappointments experienced after the general elections. The long-lived belief that a certain party holder will guarantee progress should be done away with and hence embrace new and liberal ideas.
Good leadership is not determined by party affiliation or rhetoric. What really defines a leader is his/her commitment to effect progress without partiality. We should not vote for someone just because he was endorsed by ODM or JUBILEE, we should instead consider who the person is and why he deserves to get the seat.
Leadership is about personality, not party affiliations.
