Kenya: Pressure is mounting on the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to release Sh16.7 billion unpaid pension to over 52,000 retired teachers.
This comes after the High Court in Nakuru committed TSC Secretary Gabriel Lengoiboni to a six-month civil jail for contempt of Court.
The orders to apprehend Mr Lengoiboni were issued to the acting Inspector General of Police Samuel Arachi on Friday, Last week following several months of litigation and promises from TSC to settle salary arrears and pensions awarded to the teachers in 2010 by the Court of Appeal.
Issuing the orders, Justice Janet Mulwa directed the police to report to court on March 2, to confirm if the orders have been executed.
