Raila Odinga's 'laughing' shoe

Nairobi, Kenya: When he stepped forward to address the gathering at St John’s Everlasting Gospel Church in Imara Daima, Nairobi last Sunday, CORD leader Raila Odinga was in his element.

He was in jovial mood and stood out in a well laundered suit and a tie to boot. But something was amiss. Baba’s shoe, his left shoe, was gaping or as children would say, ‘laughing’.

It was torn but it was hard to tell whether he was aware of this. Like the late Cabinet Minister John Michuki (remember his torn sock fiasco?), the minor problem did not make him to chicken out. He gave a hard-hitting speech asking the Governemnt to carry out prosecutions over “Chicken gate’ scandal.
