Nairobi, Kenya: Ahead of Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, the national team Harambee Stars has for the first time got into the top 100 position as confirmed by the latest Fifa ranking.
The team leaped 13 places up in the rankings compared to last month and now stand at position 95.
Harambee Stars have not lost in the last three matches they have played. Last month they edged out Comoros in the preliminary fixture of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier after winning the two legged affair 2-1.
This week Harambee Stars were held to a barren draw by Burundi at Nyayo Stadium.
Kenya’s opponents Lesotho are ranked at position 131. Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Chairman Sam Nyamweya is delighted by the latest rankings and says they intend to raise it to atleast the 70th position.

“Our goal is to reach number 70 so that our players can be able to play in England in the next two years,” he said.
Uganda are the highest ranked country in the region and stand at position 87. Algeria is ranked highest in African at position 24 worldwide. World champions Germany are top of the rankings followed by Argentina and Netherlands are third.
