Mudavadi accuses Uhuru of ethnic exclusion and interfering with devolution

NAIROBI, KENYA: Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani Coalition has accused the Jubilee government of accelerating ethnic exclusion, sabotaging devolution and failure to contain insecurity.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, the coalition said recent actions by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government have been characterised by naivety and a failure to develop developing stringent policies to address myriad problems inflicting our people.

“A notable departure is accelerated ethnic exclusion, insecurity and affirmation of designs to kill devolution. The spirit that informs the new constitution is to ensure accountability of government. The draconian instruments that were employed and used to oppress the people such as the provisional administration were to be dismantled to usher in a new regime of access to fairness.” said Amani.

The statement sent by Mudavadi’s spokesman Kibisu Kabatesi termed the action by president Uhuru to give more power to County Commissioners as dangerous.

“It is a source of conflict to transfer ministerial functions in executing their mandate and ensuring efficiency in operations of employees to a functionary. What then is the role of ministries if they will no longer manage staff at the county level? In other words, whom will the Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries be superintending over; the skeleton staff at their offices in Nairobi?” Reads the statement.
