A Nairobi activist Wednesday claimed he was assaulted at a police station and his attempt to record a statement thwarted.
Boniface Mwangi told a Kibera court that he was beaten after an argument with Police Constable Monicah Mwasaru at Wilson Airport Police Station.
Mr Mwangi, through his lawyer Victor Kariuki, told Kibera Chief Magistrate Judith Wanjala that the Officer Commanding Wilson Airport Police Station informed the activist that “for the police to record a complaint, they must be served with a court order”.
The court granted the order demanding the OCS to record the statement and commence investigations on the allegations.

Mwangi, who had opposed charges of disorderly conduct against him, was ordered to take a plea.
He had been accused that on March 7, 2014, while at Wilson Airport Police Station, he behaved in a disorderly manner by shouting at Mwasaru.
He is further accused of resisting arrest.
He pleaded not guilty to both accounts and he was set free on a cash bail of Sh10,000.
The case will be mentioned on April 15.
