Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and United Democratic Forum (UDF) parties are embroiled in a tussle to appease the outlawed Mombasa Republican Council (MRC).
The two parties have now filed motions in Parliament to look into the MRC’s grievances.
This comes after the parties’ leading lights, Prime Minister Raila Odinga and UDF’s Musalia Mudavadi, camped at the coast over the weekend to woo voters.
The ODM motion is crafted by the party’s parliamentary group Secretary and Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba and sponsored by the Orange party while UDF’s is sponsored by PNU’s Deputy Chief Whip and Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni as a private member’s motion.

ODM’s motion seeks to establish an eleven-member Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) on Regional and Ethnic Historical Injustices to expeditiously determine the exact issues fueling the emergence of groups like MRC.
