Trade Minister Amos Kimunya’s bodyguard was shot dead in Nairobi’s Lang’ata Road.
The administration policeman was shot at an unknown place but drove up to Mbagathi/Lang’ata Rd roundabout where he crashed and died on Saturday night.
His gun was found in the car’s backseat and an examination on it showed it had fired at least five times, an indication he tried to shoot back.
Police investigating the incident say it is, however, not clear where the senior sergeant of police was shot or was involved in the shootout if any.

The officer who is also the minister’s driver was also in charge of a team of officers who guard Mr Kimunya and his family. His colleagues say he was off duty at the time of his death.
It is said the officer was driving alone in a Government salon car from Ongata Rongai to his residence along Mbagathi Rd, which is about a kilometre away from where he crashed.
The deceased officer’s wife told police her husband had called her minutes before he crashed to inform her that he was in danger before his mobile phone went off.
Moments after
He was shot four times in the chest and head. His car was also sprayed with bullets.
"It seems he also fired from inside because his gun was on the backseat and he had belted himself when the first team arrived at the scene," said a senior police officer who sought anonymity.
The officer was found dead moments after two of his colleagues guarding the Karen home of a senior Kenya Revenue Authority official were shot and seriously wounded.
One of the officers was injured in the chest and hand while the second was injured in the foot. They were responding to a distress call from a nearby residence of a Nairobi lawyer when they were ambushed.
