Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has nominated James Koome to replace Daniel Kiogora who resigned as Youth Affairs, Sports and Culture executive.
In a communication to the County Assembly Speaker Joseph Kaberia, Mr Kiraitu said Mr Koome had the requisite qualifications and experience.
Mr Kaberia directed the committee on appointments to vet Koome and present a report to the Assembly on July 23.
Kiraitu also reshuffled several chief officers.
Haron Kanathi, the Education executive, was moved to Water and Irrigation, as Denson Mwirigi moved office from Roads and Transport to trade. Patrick Kirema, previously the chief officer for Cooperatives, replaced Mr Kanathi as Catherine Wanja of Trade moved to Cooperatives.
Joseph Muthuri is the new chief officer for Energy while Martin Gitiye moved from lands and public works to Physical Planning and Urban Development.
George Kimathi, who was the acting chief officer for Water and Irrigation, moved to Roads and Transport in the same capacity, while Timothy Kaaria, who was the acting chief officer for Energy, was moved to Lands and Public Works in the same capacity.
