Police in Naivasha have arrested a man suspected to have raped a woman and her daughter before murdering them.

The suspect was rescued from irate members of the public who wanted to lynch him in Mai Mahiu after the bodies of the two were found decomposing in their house in Sanctuary area on Sunday.

This came as details emerged that the man was on a revenge mission after the woman allegedly infected him with HIV last year.

The bodies of the two were found locked in their house by neighbors who were attracted by a foul smell before police moved in and broke into the one roomed house.

The mother and the daughter who was meant to join form one went missing a week ago only for their bodies to be discovered in the house.

According to a close family member of the deceased, the suspect had accused the woman for infecting him with the disease and had vowed to revenge.

The kin who declined to be named said that man was last seen leaving the house last week before locking it from the outside only for the bodies to be discovered five days later.

“The information we are getting is that the man raped the two with a view of also infecting the daughter with HIV for the sins of the mother,” he said.

He added that they were still in darkness over the motive of murdering them adding that they were waiting for police report.

“The suspect was rescued by police after residents of Mai Mahiu where he had been hiding attacked him seriously injuring him,” he said.

Meanwhile, a teenager committed suicide in Muteithia area of Maraigushu in Naivasha a day after arriving from his rural home from Nyeri.

The body of the victim was found hanging from a tree near his home a day after he went missing in unclear circumstances.

According to an elder in the village Moses Kiragu, the incident had left them in shock as the teenager was of sound health and had not complained of anything.

“He has been living in Nyeri and arrived on Sunday evening before leaving for unknown place only for his body to be found hanging from a tree,” he said.

Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed both cases adding that the suspect in the murder case would be arraigned in court facing various charges.

“The suspect in the murder of the two victims is in police custody while the body of the teenager has been collected and taken to Naivasha sub-county hospital mortuary,” he said.
