A passenger jet has overshot a runway on the Indonesian island of Bali and ended up in the sea but early reports suggest everyone aboard survived.

At least 130 people were on board the plane belonging to Indonesia's Lion Air, which was attempting to land at Bali's Denpasar International Airport.

Australia's AAP news service says it tried to land at 15:00 (07:00 GMT).

Dramatic photos posted on Twitter show a plane with a cracked fuselage sitting in water near rocks.

Rescue dinghies can be seen in the water around it.

The jet involved is a Boeing 737, transport ministry official Herry Bhakti told AFP news agency in the capital, Jakarta.

It came to rest 200-300m (yards) from the end of the runway, Reuters news agency reports, quoting local media.
