Nyandarua North region seems to be the biggest beneficiary in the just concluded TNA nominations in Nyandarua County.
This is after it produced candidates for both governor and senator ticket.
Daniel Waithaka, the proprietor of Nyahururu Elite Schools won the gubernatorial position ticket.
Mr Waithaka, who was the only contender from Nyandarua South, had 40,783 votes against his closest rival Peter Gathimba’s 37,172.
Former Kinangop MP Waithaka Mwangi garnered 33,174 while outgoing Kinangop MP David Ngugi scored 19,474.
Ngugi has since moved to Narc party. Waithaka may have taken the advantage that the trio, who hail from Kinangop, would divide their votes, which total to about 100,000.
CDF architect
Therefore, he would be left with the other votes from Ndaragwa, Ol Kalou and Kipipiri constituencies.
“This was the trick that propelled him into winning since the three had no strong backgrounds as they come from one region. He used the advantage that worked right,” argued political analyst Martin Waichungo.
In the senatorial position, CDF architect and former Ol Kalou MP Muriuki Karue won after he got 112,543 votes.
Second came Joseph Githae, who got 13,485 votes. Karue also hails from Nyandarua North region.
In the women representative seat, Wanjiku Muhia won the race by scoring 51,696 votes against Faith Gitau who got 48,646.
Meanwhile, confusion rocked Laikipia Constituency over who really won the TNA nomination for governor seat.
Results released in Nanyuki town indicated that aspirant Mburu Kamau had won while those released in Nyahururu indicated that his opponent Joshua Irungu won.
Those in Nanyuki indicated that Mburu had won with 45,847 votes while Irungu had 28,718 votes.
Those announced at Nyahururu by the Returning Officer showed that Irungu had won with 19,177 while Mburu had 10,368.
Questioned why
The results were disputed by the two parties, with each insisting that he had won.
Mburu insisted that the officials wanted to rig him out.
He alleged that the results released in Nyahururu town were only from Laikipia West but questioned why they took too long to be announced and yet they were near Nyahururu town where the tallying centre was.
