Immediate former director of police operations at police headquarters Mr Julius Ndegwa is soon expected in court to face charges of forgery.
Ndegwa will be the senior most officer to face charges less than a year after leaving office.
Officers from CID headquarters were expected in court on Thursday to ask for summons for Ndegwa to face the seven charges.
A source said the move followed the decision by the Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko to approve the charges on the former top cop.
The charges relate to a piece of land in Jamuhuri area in Nairobi in which he is fighting ownership with a businessman in the city.
Tobiko approved the charges on Monday and returned the investigations file to the CID and told them to go ahead and charge Ndegwa.
The detectives handling the case said they expected to get the summons and charge Ndegwa any day next week.
“They are in court to ask that he be summoned to face the charges. We do not favour anyone when there is a genuine complaint,” said a senior officer aware of the investigations.
He had recorded a statement with CID following a complaint from the businessman that he fraudulently obtained the land.
Ndegwa retired from office early this year after serving for more than 30 years in various capacities. He is currently running his private business in the city.
He held various operational positions especially in Nairobi where he was in charge during and before the post-election violence period.
