Learning at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Kitui campus was disrupted Wednesday when more than 500 students went on rampage.

The students demanded the removal of their principal Mr Justus Kioko accusing him of poor leadership and cruelty.

They further claimed that Kioko was ignoring their constant complaints on the poor quality of food at the college adding that the food was substandard and they were served tea without milk, eggs and margarines.

Waving placards and twigs and chanting the anti-principal slogans “Kioko must go, we do not want him here”, the students demonstrated along the Kitui town streets before camping outside the DC’s compound.

But the arrival of DC Joshua Chepchieng’ in the company of Kioko infuriated the students more who declined the DC’s proposal for them to go back to college inorder to address the matter.

By the time of going to the press at 4.30pm, the rioting students were still camping outside the college as riot police squad kept vigil.
