45% of people in relationships admit regularly texting other potential lovers, while 37% confess to keeping in touch over social media

People in relationships have just as many backup partners in their lives as single people do, according to new research.The study titled Computers in Human Behavior surveyed 354 people on their “backburner” relationships, in other words, people you're not currently with, but talk to sometimes because you think there’s a spark.

A whopping 45% confessed to texting their back-up lovers regularly, while 37% admitted talking over social media and 13% calling the person now and again.

It was then applied to those in committed relationships, only to discover no difference between singles and couples.

In other words, people continue to monitor their romantic prospects whether they're taken or not!
