According to the DCI, Kipleting created a fake Facebook account bearing the DP's name and "fraudulently obtained an unknown amount of money" from unsuspecting citizens.

Facebook posts shared by the DCI dated November 29 showed how Kipleting managed to appeal to Kenyans by saying the money was meant to help hunger victims.

 DP's fake Facebook account.

"The suspect published a paybill number connected to an account at Eldoret's Standard Chartered bank and appealed to his over 14K followers to come together and raise funds for the victims of hunger, promising God's blessings to those who would heed to the appeal," said the DCI.

Kipleting was arrested in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu county, and is currently in custody awaiting arraignment.
